Foster Process Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Question: Who pays the expenses of a foster animal?
Answer: Our rescue pays the expenses of supplies, food and medical care. However, if you would like to contribute by covering the cost of any/all of these items, it is always appreciated. It is also tax deductible!

Question: Can I adopt my foster animal?
Answer: If you end up falling in love with your foster animal, you may apply to adopt him/her. You will be required to fill-out an adoption application, sign an adoption agreement and provide an adoption donation (just like any other person applying for one of our rescued dogs or cats).

Question: How long does a foster animal typically stay in foster care?
Answer: There is no straight answer to this question. The length of fostering can vary from a few days to a few months. Obviously there are certain animals that we anticipate taking shorter or longer times than others (i.e. puppies usually get adopted quickly; whereas a senior dog will take longer).

Question: Who finds the foster animal its 'forever home'?
Answer: Sadie Mae Foundation advertises its rescued dogs and cats in a variety of ways, such as: 1) attending adoption events; 2) attending fundraising events; 3) handing out business cards; 4) promoting our rescues on website; 5) promoting our rescues via social media (i.e. FaceBook and Twitter); 6) highlighting rescues in our organization's official monthly newsletter; 7) displaying pet adoption ads on PetFinder, Adopt-A-Pet and Pets911 websites; 8) placing ads in local town print publications; 9) distributing flyers on community boards; and 10) attending pet adoption segments on local TV programs.
